Mobile SMS Railway ticket Booking : Book your train tickets using Mobile Phone

Now Book your train tickets using Mobile Phone, anywhere and anytime WITHOUT using Internet connection. Train passengers will be able to use their mobile phones to book tickets through a simple text-messaging-based-SMS facility or a menu-based dialing service –USSD service. Currently, only registered IRCTC users can use these services. The scheme is user-friendly, secure and also Eco-friendly, as no print out is required.

The salient features of this new scheme to be operationalised on 1st July, 2013 are :

• There will be a dedicated number on which SMS can be sent
• No need of internet at any stage viz, booking, payment, cancellation etc.
• One has to register the mobile number with IRCTC as well as one's bank. The Bank provides MMID (Mobile Money Identifier) and OTP (one time password) for authorization of payment.
• The passenger has to type the train number, destination, journey date, class and passenger details like name, age and gender on the SMS box.
• The sender will receive transaction ID and then make payment through sending another SMS by typing PAY followed by the transaction ID, MMID as received from the bank and password.
• On successful booking of ticket, message will be sent to the user by IRCTC which will suffice as valid authority to travel along with photo ID card in original.
• Cancellation of tickets can also be done through the cancellation option available
• The scheme will be on pilot basis and will not be available during the 8am -12pm for booking ARP/Tatkal/General tickets.

Indian Railways smartphone app to Find Train, Route and Station Alerts on your mobile. RailYatri.in has launched a National Railyatri Alert System (NRAS)- an information system that helps passengers find information on their route, train or destination on their internet enabled phone.

To get alerts, passengers need log on to m.railyatri.in on their mobile phone browser and click on the "National RY Alerts System"

You can create a master list of all passengers who are likely to travel on the tickets booked by you, so that while booking tickets you can easily input data from this list.

Expand IRCTC Sidebar "User Profile" and click "Master List of Passengers" a new Master List of Passengers page will be opened..

Now click on "Add Names" and enter the details of possible passengers in the format given below.

You can add any number of passengers in this master list; however, as per Railway rules, a maximum of only 6 names can be included in any one Passenger Travel List for a specific journey.

While booking your ticket click to Tag which is "Select Passengers from your Master List", select the passengers and click "Add Paggenger" to add passenger in your IRCTC form in just one click, thats it!
